The Prime Minister's wife, Sara Netanyahu, gave lone soldiers, combat fighters, and soldiers from low-income families a donation of 550,000 shekels as financial assistance ahead of the holiday this evening (Wednesday).
This is the third time Netanyahu has initiated and raised donations for the soldiers. The event took place at the offices of the 'Warm Home for Every Soldier' association in Jerusalem.
The donation will be distributed to soldiers in collaboration with the "Warm Home for Every Soldier" association in the form of holiday vouchers that will help them celebrate Rosh Hashanah.
Also present at the donation ceremony were Keren Hayesod Chairman Eliezer (Modi) Zandberg, CEO of the 'Warm Home for Every Soldier' association Shifra Shahar, and soldiers. Netanyahu initiated the first donation ahead of the holidays after 'Protective Edge'.
The Prime Minister's wife told the soldiers: "I am very happy to see all the soldiers here. This has already become a kind of tradition for us, since last year when I was exposed to the letter from the fighters in Protective Edge saying they would not have a holiday meal and I thought that was impossible, and in a very short organization we raised 300-350 thousand shekels. It has increased from time to time. Today we reached 550 thousand shekels.
""It's important to me that this reaches the lone soldiers, the soldiers from underprivileged families. We all owe you our lives and our peace, and the fact that we are able to live here in this country is thanks to you.".
""Today I am the mother of a soldier in combat service and I feel that I am a mother who is not only a private one but a mother to all of you. I feel exactly what all of your mothers feel and all we want is for you to be well, for us to be well, and for you to return home safely and for there to be no situation where there is no holiday dinner for the soldier. Return home safely and may we all have a happy holiday and a happy and peaceful new year.".
