And again: The Knesset plenum approved at noon (Wednesday) the decision of Construction Minister Yoav Galant to change the name of his ministry and add "housing" to "construction" - a word that was dropped by previous minister Uri Ariel.
The ministry's previous rebranding process cost taxpayers 142,000 shekels. This time, the Ministry of Construction and Housing claims that the name change process will be almost free of charge.
The reason for the name change: Minister Gallant wants to operate with a different policy than his predecessor, and place a greater emphasis on housing and public housing.
Among other things, Gallant decided that up to 51% of each project marketed on public land will be allocated for public housing.
Let us recall that Minister Ofir Akunis, whose appointment as Minister of Science, Technology and Space was approved by the government yesterday, also wishes to change the name of the ministry.
Akunis wants to change the name of the ministry to "Ministry of Science and Technology," and drop the word "space" from it, because of the ridicule that the previous minister in the position, Danny Danon, received.
The decision requires Netanyahu's consent and government approval.
