Heavy tree trunk falls from Lag BaOmer bonfire: Haredi teenager moderately injured

A 14-year-old boy was moderately injured in the head after a heavy tree trunk fell on him from a height while preparing a bonfire in the Ramat Eshkol neighborhood of Jerusalem.

imprudence: A 14-year-old boy was moderately injured in the head this evening (Thursday) after a tree trunk fell on him from a bonfire set up in honor of Lag BaOmer on Har Shefer Street in the Ramat Eshkol neighborhood of Jerusalem.

Volunteer paramedics from the Jerusalem branch of United Hatzalah provided him with initial medical treatment.

Sharoli Wittman, a United Hatzalah medic who arrived first at the scene, said: "This is a young man who was seriously injured in the head while preparing a bonfire for Lag BaOmer. A heavy tree trunk fell on him from a height and hit his head. After initial treatment we provided him at the scene, he was taken to a hospital in an MDA intensive care unit, where his condition is described as moderate.".

The United Hatzalah organization reiterates its call on parents and adults to warn children and teenagers who are preparing bonfires to take the utmost precautions for fear of injury or disaster.
