The division in the Lithuanian public: The 'Committee for the Honor of Our Rabbis', established by the loyalists of the Grail Steinman and the Grach Kanievsky, has in recent weeks mapped the Lithuanian yeshivots in Israel, marking which of them obey the great men of Israel, which "belong to the movement that opposes the opinion of our rabbis," and where vigilance is required.
Addressing "Dear Parents and Educators," the committee presents the list of small yeshivahs in Jerusalem, detailing the "educational trends" in them.
A previous list dealt with yeshivahs located in the city of Bnei Brak, and the committee members promise additional lists in the future. "It is well known that there is a movement that opposes the path of our rabbis, Maran the Grail and Maran the Grach, Shlita, and unfortunately quite a few young men and teenagers have been swept away by it, contrary to the opinion of their parents and the education they were given at home. We have come to see that there is a very strong demand in the public for this list, which will provide every parent with the data of each yeshivah so that everyone can choose a yeshivah to their heart's content, one that is suitable for the education they desire, without fearing another education that they do not desire.
""We are not presenting an opinion one way or another, and certainly, in principle, we are not advising anyone where to send and where not to send," the document's editors emphasize. "This is an informative list built on a wealth of information gathered from the public in various ways and over a long period of time. A serious and thoughtful Jerusalem team examined it carefully, conducted verifications and clarifications, and after in-depth discussions arrived at the appropriate definitions, solely based on substantive considerations in settling the mind without pressure, interests, or emotions. An objective list whose editors are all free of affiliation or connection to any of the yeshivas appearing on the list," the authors emphasize.
""We do not deny anyone the right to disagree with this list or present their own data, for whatever reasons they may have. This is our list and the voter will choose as they see fit," the document's editors clarify, adding that it is clear to them "that this list was compiled solely with the aim of preserving the honor of our rabbis, the faith of the sages and obedience to their leadership, and to enable parents to provide an education appropriate to these values.".
