Many creatures have entered the Knesset building to this day, but not a snake crawling on its belly. Until this morning.
David Zviel, advisor to Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein, arrived at his work at the Knesset building this morning accompanied by his young son.
When they arrived at the Chagall lounge, the boy shouted to his father: "Dad, there's a snake.".
""I looked and saw a huge snake crawling on the floor in the middle of the lounge. It stopped near the wall with the Chagall tapestries. I quickly notified the Knesset security personnel so they could take care of it," said Zviel, who photographed the snake and uploaded its photo to his Facebook page, adding the caption: "From now on, you will only come to the Knesset with high shoes. A viper snake that my son found this morning in the Chagall Hall.".
Knesset security personnel were called in to deal with a guest who had entered without permission. The snake that was crawling in the lounge was caught with double-sided tape, so the security personnel were able to capture it and take it outside.
This is apparently a black-headed, shaggy snake and is not venomous.
Knesset officials said that since the building is located in a natural forest area, where animals are infested, it is not surprising that animals occasionally manage to infiltrate inside.
