Why did Rabbi Steinman say to the council members: "Generation after generation and its thieves"?"

'Why is the mayor of 'Degel Hatorah' looking to give deputies to 'Agudat Yisrael'?"'

Warming up, warming up: The battle for the position of deputy at the same salary as the managers Modi'in Elite City Council members Tuvia Friend and Mordechai Goldberg - a battle that reached the point of Torah law in the local court, is boiling the political cauldron of the ultra-Orthodox city.

In the coming days, the members of the court who listened to the parties' arguments will decide whether they are even allowed to discuss the dispute or whether it is an issue that should be decided by the Grand Rabbi Steinman.

In the background, there is great tension between the members of the Degel Hatorah council and Mayor Yaakov Guterman. Even before the last local elections, there were those who came to the home of the Grail Steinman in Hazon-Ish 5, to convince him to put forward a new candidate for the position of mayor - a mission that was unsuccessful since the Grail decided that Guterman would be the Degel Hatorah candidate this time as well.

Among the "pilgrims" were the three Knesset members of the "Degel Hatorah" party, Moshe Gafni, Uri Maklev, and Yaakov Asher, as well as Menachem Shapira, who, following tensions between him and Guterman, was forced to move to the city of Bnei Brak, where he served as deputy mayor with great success.

Since then, there has been great tension between Guterman and Zviki Levy, director of the city's Shefa Department, who is considered very close to both Gafni and Shapira. In fact, his acquaintance with Guterman was through the "Degel Hatorah," and when he became mayor, he appointed Levy to a senior position in the city.

But the friendship faded over the years, although it reached its peak in recent months, as mentioned above. Miraculously, shortly after the elections, the municipal vehicle he had driven for years was taken from him, and it was converted into a car maintenance payment in his paycheck – a much smaller benefit than he had, and perhaps also a small hint of anger towards him. Levy even revealed that one of the people they worked with was recruited to follow him.

We would like to remind you that since the Modi'in Illit Municipality does not respond to websites, it is not possible to obtain a response from them.

In recent days, anger among members of the Torah Banner has grown toward Guterman. This follows rumors of his closeness to the Bnei Torah camp, including rumors that he was behind the letter of complaint sent by Avi Berger, a representative of the Bnei Torah faction, to the Interior Ministry, in an attempt to torpedo the position of paid deputy to Mordechai Goldberg, a member of the Torah Banner, and essentially sabotage his livelihood.

In their anger, they decided to reveal what had happened at the Grail's house on the last Passover holiday. It turns out that Guterman was not the only one who visited the house on Hazon-Ish Street and heard what he heard. The council members from Degel also came to pour out their hearts and seek advice. Nachum Gitler, Uri Yaffe, Moshe Mutterferl, and several members of the house were present at the meeting. Since the conversation dealt with the matter of Mordechai Goldberg, he himself was not present.

Not all of the content of the conversation was shared by those who agreed to reveal it to me. But, two sentences were told. "We poured out our hearts, we told what we were going through," the man says. "The yeshiva head had a hard time understanding. 'I don't understand,' he wondered, 'why is the mayor of Degel Hatorah looking to give deputies to Agudat Yisrael?'""

When they tried to explain, he told them the following sentence: "Generation after generation and its demands, generation after generation and its thieves.".
