Defense Minister to the Rebbe of Belza: "We will not be convinced to enlist""

שר הביטחון משה (בוגי) יעלון הגיע אמש (שני) לביקור בביתו של  האדמו”ר מבעלזא בירושלים, כשברקע ניצב הדיון בשאלת התייצבות בני הישיבות בלשכות הגיוס, לקראת הכרעת שלושת ה'מועצות' של אגו"י, דגל התורה וש"ס. האדמו"ר שוחח עם יעלון, שהגיע מלווה בח"כ ישראל אייכלר, במשך כ-20 דקות, והשמיע באוזניו את דאגתו לעולם התורה. לדברי מקורות בחסידות בעלזא, יעלון חזר על הבטחתו לפעול מתוך הידברות עם ראשי הציבור החרדי. הוא הבטיח, כפי שהתחייב במסמך ההבנות וכפי שאמר בפגישה שקיים עם חברי הכנסת, כי לא יהיו ניסיונות להוציא את בני הישיבות מעולם התורה. ""He reiterated that everything will be done in full coordination and without coercion, and that yeshiva students and avrechim will not receive a briefing that includes persuasion to enlist in the IDF or civilian service, and that no medical examinations will be conducted for yeshiva candidates who report to the recruitment offices," Belza says.   The Rebbe asked the minister to do everything in his power to ensure that yeshiva students could continue to study their Talmud.
