Almost Lynched: Three residents of the settlement of Yakir in the Nablus area accidentally entered the village of Burin in Samaria on ATVs today (Monday). After they entered, residents of the Palestinian village gathered around them, took their ATVs from them, and attempted to lynch them. According to the Palestinians, they arrested the settlers because they had weapons on them.

Contact was quickly made with the Palestinian police and the Civil Administration, and the three were removed from the scene. They were handed over to security forces, and after a brief interrogation they were released. Their weapons, which had been taken from them earlier, were returned.

One of the ATVs was set on fire by the villagers, and the other was returned to the military authorities. "This is a serious case of an attempt to harm innocent travelers that miraculously ended only with the burning of the ATV," say the leadership of the settlers in Judea and Samaria.

The settlers said that although they were armed, they chose not to use their weapons so as not to worsen the situation.
