A musical star is rising in the skies of Europe: Avraham David, 29, married and a father of two, lives in Strasbourg, is retired from the accounting profession and is currently completing preparations for the launch of his debut album, 'Yahlom'.
""I have been singing since the age of 4 with my late father, who taught me to sing and introduced me to the world of cantorship," says Avraham.
The connection with music grew stronger and the young boy taught himself to play the piano, drums and percussion instruments. Later, he also fell in love with the guitar and saxophone, and his inner world became increasingly centered around Hasidic and Jewish music. Slowly, he developed a unique musical style, sat down at the piano and composed his first songs.
After getting married, he focused on building a busy schedule of performances and events. His residence in Strasbourg, a central European capital, allows him to perform throughout Europe and travel the main routes of the Jewish and Haredi communities on the continent: Germany, Spain, Italy, Switzerland and, of course, France. He loves to perform in Israel, but on the high holy days he will always be a public servant at his regular synagogue in Los Angeles.
Now, as every summer, wedding season is knocking him off his feet.
The album Diamond was produced by music and graphics artist Lovik Tobol ("Schlager"), with compositions by top musicians and arrangers such as Moshe Laufer, Itzi Waldner and Avraham David himself. Most of the arrangements on the album were written by Moshe Laufer, and the rest by Yoni Eliav, Shai Barak and Udi Damari.
Among the collaborators on the album are also the talented Ken Burgess and Miriam Israeli ("There is Hope"), who wrote lyrics.
The first single "Hear Me" is based on the Midrash Rabbah Devarim (Parasha 4, paragraph 5): "The Holy One, the Blessed One, said to Israel - Hear Me, for there is no one who listens to Me - and loses...""
