The 'father' of the baby girl passed away: The late Dr. Rabbi Yoram Bental, director of the obstetrics department at the Laniado Medical Center in Kiryat Sanz, passed away at the age of 60, after a serious illness.

The deceased, a resident of Rechsim, was a specialist in pediatrics and neonatology. He had been seriously ill for the past year.

""Yorem was a man who feared God and kept light as light as darkness, a doctor of divine grace who managed the obstetrics department with professionalism and great dedication that is worthy of praise," they say at the medical center.

Dr. Bental, whose fame spread far and wide, came to Laniado precisely because of the unique, ultra-Orthodox and professional character of the medical center. The Rebbe of Sanz, with whom the doctor was very close and who used to consult with him, would send him, as well as Torah luminaries and doctors from all over the country, people who sought advice on premature birth. The medical center's CEO, Haim Hammerman, says: "Dr. Bental's passing is not only a pain for the many parents who benefited from his advice, healing, and resourcefulness. All the doctors and staff of the maternity department, which is the happiest department in the hospital, are saddened by the passing of the revered doctor.".

Living proof of his work can be seen in the long hallway of the maternity ward, in the form of dozens of letters of appreciation and gratitude to the doctor, whom his acquaintances and fans called: 'Yoram a true genius.' Several cases have been published and attest to his expertise. One of them occurred several years ago, when a baby born at the 23rd week of pregnancy weighing 620 grams survived and was discharged after a month of hospitalization.

His funeral left Friday afternoon from the Knesset Yeshiva Hezkiyahu in Rachisim.
