Unimaginable: An 11-month-old baby in the city of Omaha, Nebraska, in the United States, was discovered dumped in a trash can.
The baby was found by a neighbor who came down from his house to take out the garbage and heard sounds that he initially attributed to animals.
Only when he bent down did he discover, to his horror, a child with a dirty diaper, lying in the trash.
The paramedics who rushed to the scene reported that the child was healthy and unharmed, and transferred him to the city hospital for further tests.
The local sheriff told the Sky News website that he did not understand how a person could do something like this.
The trash can was taken for laboratory identification, to try to extract a fingerprint from it that would lead to those who abandoned the child.
