An examination of the security cameras in the area of the home of Zionist Union Chairman MK Yitzhak Herzog and his wife Michal revealed that no stones were thrown at Michal Herzog's car, but rather two stones that were on the road and a vehicle passing by hit them and threw them at her car.
Yesterday evening (Monday), Herzog reported to the police that a stone was thrown at her car as she was leaving her home in Tel Aviv.
She told the police that the stone hit the vehicle and caused damage to the windshield and window.
The police and the Personal Security Unit immediately launched an investigation.
Opposition leader MK Yitzhak Herzog wrote on his Facebook page last night: "An unpleasant windshield smashing incident in Michal's car this evening. It is important for me to clarify that everything is fine and we are continuing with our daily routine. The police are investigating the incident and we are confident that they will complete the investigation as soon as possible. A big thank you to all those who asked and were concerned, and good night.".
Following the incident, MK Mickey Levy Mish Atid, former commander of the Jerusalem Police District, was quick to declare that the Israel Police must use all means at its disposal to apprehend those who threw the stone.
""Any violence, including against political figures and their families, deserves condemnation from all ends of the political spectrum, and those who are guilty should bear the maximum penalty stipulated in the Penal Code for this serious offense.".
Minister Yuval Steinitz of the Likud also rushed to condemn the incident: "My heart goes out to Michal Herzog and her husband, Bozi, against the violent and dangerous thugs who threw stones at her vehicle. Such acts threaten all members of the public and the democracy that is dear to all of us. I expect the law enforcement agencies to catch the criminals and hope that they will be punished in the most severe and deterrent manner.".
