The lonely and elderly, the needy and the elderly Jews living in Moscow were blessed with true and special holiday joy this year on the holiday of Purim.

At the Shaarei Tzedek Jewish Charity Center in central Moscow, which is responsible for delivering food and gifts to the poor and thousands of lonely and needy Jews – not just on Purim, but all year round – the Jerusalem Klezmer, led by artist Avraham-Leib Bornstein, performed before hundreds of participants, playing soulful melodies combined with special dances, steeped in humor and ancient Russian and Jerusalem stories in Yiddish.

The elderly, for whom the Center for Kindness has become their second home, listened to the reading of the Book of Esther, fulfilled the mitzvah of the day with gifts for the poor, and were rewarded with a gift delivery, accompanied by a congratulatory letter from the rabbi of Russia, the Gaon Rabbi Berel Lazar, founder of the Center for Kindness.

Those who were confined to their homes were sent food parcels that were collected and packaged by the students of the Banot Menachem School, using the fleet of vehicles that distributes hundreds of hot and nutritious meals every day.
