While the Ministry of Economy and its head, Minister Naftali Bennett, often talk about their activities to promote employment in the Haredi sector, it turns out that there are other factors that are making no less of an effort.
In about two weeks, on the 13th of Iyar, the high-tech conference for the Haredi sector will be held in Jerusalem. A similar conference was held last year, but there is no doubt that this year, after a year of activity, it will be a much greater success, especially since last year Finance Minister Yair Lapid was invited to the conference, and this year he was not. This is probably a consideration stemming from the desire not to alienate the Haredi from cooperation.
Among the speakers will be Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat. Also speaking at the event will be: former Justice Minister Prof. Yaakov Ne'eman, MK Yariv Levin, chairman of the coalition, MK Eilat Shaked, chairman of the Jewish Home faction, MK Moshe Gafni of United Torah Judaism, and Adina Bar Shalom, director of the Haredi College.
There is no doubt that the mere inclusion of MK Gafni on the list of speakers is proof of the Haredi backing for the event.
The initiative is headed by MK Erel Margalit, chairman of the lobby for promoting Haredi employment in the Knesset. Margalit's lobby also includes MK Amnon Cohen of Shas and MK Yaakov Asher of United Torah Judaism, and it has received much praise.
Among the speakers was the chairman of the Haredi Forum, Itzik Crombie, who even ensured that the refreshments would be... strictly kosher.
Similar initiatives raised by MK Dov Lipman of Mish Atid were 'deserved' a sweeping Haredi boycott, with not a single Haredi MK daring to participate in the discussions.
