A couple of tourists driving through a national park in Bangkok were surprised to discover an elephant that decided their car was an excellent scratching post and began rubbing against it incessantly. Fortunately for the ages, the adventure ended with only a few blows and a dismembered bumper.

What happens when an elephant scratches itself in a car?

Well, this is not the beginning of a children's joke, but a frightening reality that almost happened in the lives of a couple of tourists in Bangkok, Thailand.

The two were driving in their car in the national park located in the area, when suddenly a large elephant burst out of the forest and began rubbing and scratching against the Mercedes in which they were sitting.

The drivers behind them stopped and began filming the incident. The passengers did not escape from the car, and the incident ended miraculously, with the couple not injured except for some blows and a shattered bumper.

The saga ended when the elephant decided to leave the car and return to the forest.

The director of the nature reserve told Sky News that the cars stopping stressed the elephant, which felt trapped, and so it continued to attack the car.

He wanted to warn drivers that when an elephant appears in the middle of the path, they should not honk their horns or flash their headlights at it, nor should they go out to take pictures.

A similar incident occurred eight months ago, when another elephant decided to 'dance' on the hood of a car and not just scratch it. Surprisingly, the passengers did not get out of the car, but continued filming the entire time.
