One breath of relief

There is no 'when your enemy falls' here, nor is there 'when the wicked are destroyed.' There is no joy for the dead here, and there is no smile of victory here. The last two years have been enough for us to learn a chapter or two in the wheel of the world that elevates the lowly and brings down the high, but there is certainly one breath of relief here.

So this week it happened. After countless speculations and predictions, and after dozens of interpretations made by all those knowledgeable about religion and law, it has come – the coalition is falling apart. Some will say 'we knew' and some will say 'we told you so' either way, nothing has been clear about this in the last two weeks. The Israeli government with its leaders has lost its right to exist.

Not that she had any right during her years in office, but even the little, the so-called 'days of grace' - were grace, mercy and mercy. It was clear from the very beginning that a coalition that relies on illusory 'deals' between extreme right-wingers and center-leftists, and between people who consider themselves observant of the commandments and those who gnaw on religious matters for their appetite, does not have the strength to survive even for a month. And truly, the deals and adopted brothers did not last and did not keep their word at the beginning of the term of the destroyer. The peak was of course in the last few days when the nation-state law was a trifle in the eyes of these people and the zero VAT law was a disaster for the covenant-breakers on the other side, but the first rift began long before, long before the unreasonable use of the word 'brother'. Two years ago, at exactly this time, we mentioned that Esau was also a brother, an elder brother.

There is no 'when your enemy falls' here, nor 'when the wicked are destroyed.' There is no joy for the wicked here, and there is no smile of victory here. Absolutely not. The last two years have been enough for us to learn a chapter or two in the wheel of the world that raises the lowly and lowers the high, at will it will elevate and at will it will humiliate. But there is certainly one breath of relief here, no doubt. Since the government began functioning without a kosher mezuzah at its door, the Haredi public has eaten bitter things, just like that. Laws upon laws have been submitted to the Knesset plenum with one goal: the destruction of the Jewish people and the erasure of religious symbols from the state.

Ministers and members of Knesset who until yesterday were completely anonymous and unknown and no one knew who they were or what their names were, have lost their sanity from the intoxication of the enormous power in power and have begun passing bizarre, delusional, and absurd laws, the common denominator of which is ignorance, lack of knowledge, and a lot of evil against a specific and threatening sector. A stranger who had stumbled into the Knesset plenary session in the past year could have stood for hours, rooted to the spot, gaping in astonishment at the mosaic of nonsense that made up the senseless government, and at the wickedness of the laws that were intended to fight everything precious and holy. And now, when Yair Lapid added another adjective before the word 'former' and his companions have returned to their obscurity and loneliness [and rabbinate?] - when delusional and stupid laws that until yesterday were a terror among our camp are now worthless like a garlic peel and there is no suitable saucer to create them on, with all of this behind us, there is certainly room for a great and liberating sigh of relief, one that is reserved for the days of 'after' after harm to the body, and now, after attempts to harm the soul, the soul of the Jewish people.

Emotions now must be channeled into internal channels, into areas that we may have neglected in recent years. – To unity. In days like these, when we are all hanging in the balance and do not know what the composition of the next government will be, and these new parties will spring up like mushrooms and sweep the masses of the people after them, when only one thing is clear and known in advance – that all the campaigns of all the parties will focus very closely on the Haredi public for the better.

In these fateful days and months, we must unite as one and as one Haredi front, not against anyone, but only for ourselves. When the Haredi public is defined as a public and not as factions, then our power will certainly grow and constitute a real obstacle in attempts to establish coalitions that will further strengthen the Rakhil. Go out and see what is happening in the Arab sector on the other hand, which could easily have reached nineteen seats if they had united, and now, with their foolishness and division, it is doubtful that they will pass the threshold in any of the parties. Now, therefore, the duty of the hour is to be one 'public' - single and united. Because only when we recognize our own worth and see the good virtues within us will we not have to accept light blows on the wings from rebellious ministers who will remind us that no matter what, we are all Haredi, Ashkenazi, Sephardic, and without identity.

And how is it possible without a single word to the former Minister of Finance, who single-handedly blocked the small possibility he might still have of returning as a Knesset member in the next Knesset, when he enacted a law about a year ago that increases the threshold to four seats, thereby leaving himself deep outside, drowning in the mud of the imaginary halo and dirty in the dust of falling stars. Yair, thank you. With all my heart.
