A heated confrontation developed this morning (Tuesday) in the Knesset committee, which was discussing MK Tali Gottlieb's request to receive immunity from criminal prosecution.
Already at the beginning of the meeting, with the participation of Attorney Gali Baharav from Yara, heated exchanges developed between Knesset members.
During her speech, MK Gottlieb addressed Behreb-Meara directly, hurling harsh and unprecedented words at her: "What do you understand by state security? You are against state security. You spread hatred. Government meeting after government meeting. And for what? For applause from the opposition!".
Gottlieb continued to attack what she defined as the trampling of the rights of elected officials by the legal bureaucracy: "You are constantly trampling on the rights of Knesset members, and you are only increasing your own rights. What is more important than your position? Why did you change it?""
According to her, the attorney general has become a "government swindler" who prevents the political echelon from acting properly, and regularly goes out to the public to present the government as extremist and a threat to democracy with the aim of inciting and intimidating. "You are behaving like a criminal organization. You have destroyed the legal advice to the government with the clear aim of bringing down the right-wing government and whitewashing the top brass of the Shin Bet," Gottlieb lashed out.
Gottlieb gave examples of offenses that were not addressed by the government's legal counsel: "An MK who plotted to set a bonfire on Ayalon, risking human life on a transportation route - 20 years in prison. What's happening to her? Is she on the right side of the political map?""
At the end of her speech, she criticized Baharav-Miara's behavior: "You read from the pages, you don't look me in the eye.".

According to a report on Channel 7, an unusual confrontation developed between MK Meirav Ben-Ari of the Mish Atid party and MK Moshe Aboutbul of the Shas party.
Ben Ari snapped: "I'm not counting you, you disgusting little man.".
Aboutbol replied to her: "You won't be confused" - and the discussion continued with interjections and interruptions from the participants.
In a hearing held yesterday in the committee, MK Tali Gottlieb presented her arguments to the committee members for about 4 hours.
The Legal Advisor to the Government opposes granting immunity.
Later, Knesset members Yossi Taib and Moshe Aboutbul of Shas slammed Behrab Meyara: "Stop persecuting Torah students. Stop harming mothers and starving children." The MKs added and shouted: "You're crazy.".
Following the commotion, Bahar Meyara fled the committee.
