Attorney Michael Rabilo, who was elected yesterday by the Knesset to the position of State Comptroller, arrived today (Thursday) for his first overlapping meeting with State Comptroller and Ombudsman, Matanyahu Engelman, at his office in Jerusalem.
The next comptroller is expected to be sworn in on July 1, and upon assuming office in a month, he will become the tenth state comptroller and the ninth public complaints ombudsman of the State of Israel.
In addition, he will replace Auditor Engelmann as President of the European Organization of Auditors (EUROSAI) and will continue in this position until May 2027.
State Comptroller and Ombudsman, Matanyahu Engelman: "The last seven years have been particularly intense, and included the Corona years, 5 Knesset election campaigns, Wall Watch, the October 7th massacre, and the Iron Sword War. All of this was reflected in dozens of incisive reports on these issues, as well as reports on cyber, environmental, and social issues.
""We published over 600 reports, including about 50 iron sword reports that also included imposing personal responsibility on all levels: political, military and civilian. At the Public Complaints Commission, we doubled the number of complaints that reached the commission and exceeded 30,000 complaints a year - which shows public trust. 'It's not up to you to finish the job and you're not free to cancel it.' I wish Attorney Michael Rabillo great success in his position and will be at his disposal as much as he needs.".
