The young man, who got married about a month ago and lives permanently in Mexico, came to Israel to be with his mother, who is battling a serious illness. His arrest has sparked great concern among his family and members of the ultra-Orthodox community in Mexico.
Upon his arrest, the family members turned to businessman and social activist Eviater Elbaz with a request that he assist in handling the case.
Elbaz immediately took action to handle the case, worked with the relevant authorities, and presented the humanitarian circumstances of the young ultra-Orthodox man.
After two days, the decision was made to release him from prison, and he was reunited with his family in Israel.
However, the IDF authorities are currently not allowing him to leave Israel and want to conscript him by force - while his wife is in Mexico.
Pressure is now being exerted on the Mexican Embassy to act with the appropriate authorities in Israel.
The family members thanked Eviatar for his personal involvement and the efforts he put into the case. They said he followed the matter closely and worked resolutely until the young man was released.
Eviatar Elbaz tells Haredim 10: "I am happy that the case ended correctly and that in the end the young man was able to return to his family and mother. Along with upholding the law, it is important to show sensitivity and humanity in exceptional cases."
