The US government has promoted an initiative to issue a $250 bill featuring a portrait of President Trump.

If the move goes through, Trump will be the first living president to appear on a banknote in the last 150 years.,

According to a report today (Thursday) in the Washington Post, quoted in Kan News, over the past year, two political figures in the US Treasury Department have promoted a move designed to examine the issuance of a $250 bill.

As part of the initiative, the two worked with the United States Bureau of Engraving and Printing to prepare initial models for the design of the banknote.

However, according to employees at the office, the move has raised reservations due to concerns that it contradicts federal law, which states that portraits on banknotes are intended for individuals who have already died.

As part of the preparations, several possible sketches for the bill were presented - including a version in which President Trump appeared at the center of the design. According to the report, some of the designs also included signatures of Trump and Treasury Secretary Scott Bassent, along with graphic elements tied to the 250th anniversary of the United States.
