The Licensing Division at the Ministry of Transportation continues to expand its digital services and is launching another innovative move to improve public service: Starting today, a driver whose vehicle was stolen and later located by the police will be able to pay the toll difference online and simply - without the need to physically visit the licensing office to remove the restrictions from the vehicle.

To date, when a report was received from the police about a vehicle found after being stolen, the definition of "stolen vehicle" was removed from the Ministry of Transportation's systems, but in order for the vehicle owner to be able to renew the vehicle license or perform operations on the vehicle such as transferring ownership, he was required to physically come to the licensing office, where he was issued an updated license that included the relative fee difference. After paying the difference, the restriction on performing operations on the vehicle (Restriction 45) was lifted.

From today, there is no need to go to the licensing office. Upon receipt of the report from the police about the location of the vehicle, the restriction will be automatically removed. At the same time, the system will calculate the difference in the fee required to be paid according to the period between the date the vehicle was located and the expiration of the license.

The difference can be paid in the government personal area or at post offices. Once the payment is received in the system, the vehicle will be free of any restrictions.

The change is one of a series of improvements that emerged as part of a re-examination of regulations and procedures initiated by Minister Miri Regev, which was intended to avoid bureaucracy and unnecessary red tape and make things easier for citizens.

Minister of Transportation Miri Regev: "Upon taking office, I instructed the ministry's staff to examine in depth existing processes and procedures, with the aim of reducing bureaucracy as much as possible, removing barriers and improving service to citizens. Out of consideration for those whose vehicles were stolen and who went through a complicated period, we decided to eliminate the unnecessary hassle and physical arrival at the licensing offices for a simple technical procedure. The new move offers a simple, fast and digital alternative, and saves time and unnecessary hassle. We will continue to promote smart solutions and services that will make the daily lives of Israeli citizens easier.""

Ministry of Transportation Director General Moshe Ben Zaken: "This is another move by the Ministry of Transportation, carried out as part of the service revolution led by Minister Regev. We continue to promote smart digital solutions that make it easier for citizens, shorten processes and eliminate the need to physically visit government offices, wherever this can be done remotely and efficiently.""
