At the political-security cabinet meeting held last night (Tuesday), government members made strong statements - against the backdrop of the security situation in the north and the ceasefire violations in Lebanon.
According to a Channel 7 report, during the discussion, a debate developed over the most effective course of action against Hezbollah and the Lebanese government. The ministers demanded a reexamination of Israel's policy of containment.
Minister Miri Regev asked in a discussion about the neighboring country's responsibility: "What is Lebanon doing against Hezbollah?".
Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir replied: "They are not doing anything. They have two ministers from Hezbollah - that's the mother of the revolving door.".
Minister Orit Struck: "We need to look for what hurts them.".
Defense Minister Israel Katz responded to Strok: "It hurts them that their territory is being taken away.".
Minister Ben Gvir opposed Katz's decision and presented a hard line: "It will hurt them when we flatten the Dahiyya. We will do there what we did in Rafah, and we will move the population. I understand that there will be those who will not like it, but the red line is harming our soldiers and civilians.".
Minister Avi Dichter referred to the military system's proposals and noted: "We need to examine whether the steps the IDF is proposing are indeed sufficient.".
