According to the police, officers who noticed his dangerous driving detained the suspect, and upon examination it turned out that he was a "deserter", who was later handed over to IDF officials. This coincided with the opening of an "investigation against him for his dangerous driving.".

The police statement said that "a short time later, dozens of rioters arrived at the Binyamin station and started a violent riot, which included overturning a police trailer, burning cartons, bending fences and causing damage to the police station's emergency exit door.

""The station police, together with the Yasm and Border Guard fighters, acted immediately to repel the rioters and disperse them, using force and means to disperse disturbances.".

The police added that "in the meantime, another deserter was detained, who also violated the order, and he was handed over to the military police.".

The investigation into the disturbance and damage to the station is ongoing.
