The beloved composer, Yossi Green, hosted the Yiddish Nachat children's choir for a song he composed especially for Shavuot based on the prayer hymn "You have chosen us.".
The musical arrangement and production by the successful musical duo, Eli Klein and Itzi Berry.
Yossi Green: "The prayer 'You have chosen us' is not only one of the most well-known prayers due to its appearance in every eighteen-hour prayer of all the Jewish holidays and festivals, but it also serves as a song sung at holiday and Shabbat meals.
Over time, an interesting question arose in me. Every time I come across this prayer and ponder its meaning, I stop for a moment and wonder… 'You chose us out of all the nations' – who was the next choice, the vice-champions? Who was the other nation that 'almost won’? Were there any other options? Well, we all know the answer to that…
Some time ago I saw a wonderful gem from the righteous Rabbi Rabbi Dov Kook, shlita, who spoke about the prayer "You have chosen us" and it resonated: Imagine this… You chose us from all the nations; You loved us more than everyone else; You wanted us as Your people; You exalted us from all the nations; You sanctified us more than everyone else; You brought us closer to You… And like the cherry on top: You called upon us Your great and holy name.
"I composed the song out of immense love and a deep connection as a gift for the Munkach Rebbe, Shlita, in preparation for this year's Matan Torah holiday.".
