Channel 14 presenter Shimon Riklin described possible war moves by Israel and the United States in Iran yesterday (Monday) on his Channel 14 program - and drew criticism on social media from political and media figures.
According to the allegations, Riklin allegedly published classified information about the plan to remove uranium from Iran, without receiving approval from the censor.
MKs from the Future Party sent a letter last night to the chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, MK Boaz Bismuth, demanding an urgent discussion in the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee or the Intelligence Subcommittee, following what they defined as "a great danger that a leak of this type could cause harm to Israel, the US, and also to relations between the countries.".
According to a report by media figure Haim Levinson, "The censors decided to completely take Riklin's show off the air yesterday, not just because of the segment you're talking about. In addition, another operational plan that the Mossad is working on was revealed. Of course, 'all in hints.' This publication also made the staff jumpy yesterday. I own the segment and decided not to publish it out of responsibility for the security of the State of Israel.".
During the program, Riklin spoke about the information - and later said: "It doesn't matter who told me this.".
Prof. Danny Orbach, a senior military historian who was present at the lecture, responded: "I have no way of knowing if this is true, but it is not information that is published in most places.".
In response, Riklin laughed awkwardly: "Can you hear me? I can't speak.".
Riklin responded firmly to the criticism directed at him: "I did not reveal any secret details that are prohibited from publication. I did not say that Israel would rehearse all kinds of operations against all kinds of places in Iran. We had a hypothetical discussion about what Israel should attack if the war with Iran were renewed. No one told me anything. No one shared any secrets with me.".
