International Scooter Day is celebrated annually on May 19th with the aim of promoting safe riding and raising awareness of its benefits as a means of transportation. However, there are many accidents and injuries to riders around the world. Magen David Adom teams treated 3,912 injuries in 2025. Here are the main figures:

- 3,912 casualties, an average of 10 casualties per day.

- The highest age group of victims is men between the ages of 16 and 24, a total of 16% of all victims.

- 18% of all victims are under the age of 15 – who are prohibited from riding by law.

Dr. Raphael Strogo, Secretary General of Medicine and Blood Services at MDA: ""MDA paramedics and medics operate 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, to provide life-saving medical treatment in routine and emergency events, including those injured in scooter accidents. The data shows that riders who rode legally and wore helmets saved their lives and suffered less serious injuries. In addition, over 700 children across the country, at the age prohibited from riding a motorized vehicle, were injured and evacuated for life-saving medical treatment. We remind all riders, and especially parents of children, that riding is allowed for those over the age of 16 after passing a designated theory test or for those with a driver's license. Riding is intended for marked bike paths or on the road and not on sidewalks designated for pedestrians, and don't forget protective equipment.".
