In honor of Jerusalem Day:A special government meeting was held today (Sunday) at the Knesset Museum in "Beit Frumin," which served as the temporary Knesset headquarters.
Is 100,000 NIS right for you before Shavuot? Last hours for the big lottery!
The Prime Minister said at the opening of the special session: "This is the second time I have visited here after the restoration, in the original Knesset residence in Beit Frumin. I think everyone who comes here feels the uniqueness of this place, which was essentially the abode of the renewal of the sovereignty of our people in our country after thousands of years. And that always thrills the heart.".
I also remember as a young Jerusalemite I was here across the street and looked at this house, it was closed to young men like me then, but today it is open to the entire people of Israel. And I invite all of you, citizens of Israel, to come here and enjoy this heritage. A truly wonderful renovation work has been done here, very original, very authentic and very faithful to the original, and the atmosphere is very inspiring.
I would like to send my condolences to the family of Captain Maoz Israel Rekanti, the late. Maoz left everything, even his fiancée, whom he was going to marry in about a month, and led his fighters in Lebanon in battle and also fell. May God avenge his blood. May his memory be blessed.
I want to say a few things about the struggle in Lebanon. We are doing a lot there: seizing territory there, clearing territory there, defending Israeli settlements, but we are also fighting an enemy that is trying to outsmart us.
Six years ago, at a cabinet meeting, I warned about the threat of drones. At the time, I saw it first and foremost as a serious threat as a tool for assassinations, but since then, of course, it has evolved. From the beginning of the war, and of course, I also saw the war in Ukraine, I thought that it could be used as a tool on our battlefield as well.
""At my request, the IDF erected shelters over the tanks. That was one means. And the IDF did and the Ministry of Defense did many things over the years, you have to understand that, and they thwarted many hundreds if not thousands, including UAVs, thousands of attempts to harm our forces by UAVs and drones. And they succeed. Every time there is a new threat, and they succeed in thwarting it.
Today we are faced with the thwarting of fiber-optic drones. This is a specific type of threat. I convened a special team together with the Minister of Defense and people from the Ministry of Defense and people outside the Ministry of Defense, not only in industries but also in the civilian sector. The best minds in the country, and in my opinion the best minds in the world.
I held three meetings in two weeks, but I told them at a meeting we held a few days ago something that surprised them a bit: 'You have no budget limit.' Whatever it costs - it will cost. You also have no limit, that's how I know, of creativity and imagination - because you are the best in the world. Therefore, my instruction to the team is to come up with a solution for both this and the next threat that comes.
I have no doubt that Israel will be the first country, as we have done in other territories, to bring a complete solution to this problem as well. It requires patience and sometimes even gnashing of teeth, but we have both of these things - patience and determination and the ability to meet the challenge - in abundance. We will achieve that too.
Over the weekend, we eliminated the master murderer, Izz ad-Din al-Haddad. He was essentially number one in Hamas' military wing. He was eliminated. This despicable terrorist was responsible for the murder, injury, and kidnapping of thousands of Israeli citizens and IDF soldiers. He used the hostages as human shields, and he is no longer there.
It is important to say that I promised two things, and the government is with me: I promised that we would return all of our abductees, down to the last of them. Down to the Hero of Israel, Rani Gweily, the late. And we returned them. There were doubts, we had no doubts. We returned them.
I promised a second thing - that all the architects of the massacre and all the architects of the kidnapping will be eliminated to the last one, and we are very close to completing this mission as well. We in Gaza now hold no longer 50% - already 60%. We are gripping Hamas.
We know exactly what our mission is, and our mission is one - to ensure that Gaza no longer poses a threat to Israel, and we are carrying out this mission with the help of our heroic soldiers. They are truly heroes. In Lebanon, in Gaza, and in the skies of Tehran. Our fighters, our pilots, our male and female fighters, are heroes.
"Our eyes are also open regarding Iran. I will speak today, as I do every few days, with our friend President Trump. I will certainly hear impressions from his trip to China, perhaps other things as well. Of course there are many possibilities, we are prepared for any scenario.".
