Trump's announcement is unprecedented in American history and was signed as an official White House statement.

Schmelzer expressed his appreciation for the president, noting that the song was written after realizing how much love Trump shows for the Jewish people. "Especially now, as we celebrate 250 years of American freedom, and with President Trump's encouragement of greater Shabbat observance across the country, I wanted to do my part to express our appreciation.".

Trump emphasized in the announcement that the day would recognize the Jewish tradition of dedicating time for rest and introspection. The president added that he expects families and communities of all backgrounds to unite during the national Sabbath in gratitude for the American nation.
