At approximately 3:30 PM, a report was received at the Israel Fire and Rescue Service's 102 hotline about a hazardous materials incident at the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya.

Upon the arrival of the first teams from the Zevulun station, an ammonia leak was detected in the hospital's basement floor, following the rupture of a container inside one of the laboratories.

The firefighters, protected by specialized equipment, conducted an initial scan to rule out anyone trapped and worked to isolate the scene.

During the incident, a farm worker who was exposed to the substance and inhaled fumes was treated on site and is in a mild condition.

Firefighters collected the container and the spilled material and safely evacuated them from the hospital grounds.

The teams carried out controlled ventilation operations to remove the remaining vapors from the underground space and used monitoring devices to ensure that the concentrations of the substance in and around the laboratory room had returned to a safe level.

The circumstances of the incident are being examined by a fire investigator and the Fire and Rescue Service.
