The political system in Israel is facing a dramatic event, following Maran HaGard Lando's instruction to representatives of Degel Hatorah to act to bring forward the elections immediately.

Strategic commentator Shlomo Filber analyzed the implications on Channel 14: "In principle - and we did initial tests this afternoon - to check trends, there is very great anger and very great despair in the public. We did test mainly the Ashkenazi public that listens to Rabbi Lando - and over 50 percent are really starting to identify with the messages that came out of Rabbi Lando's house today, and this is definitely a political event that Netanyahu cannot ignore.

""However, and I say this very, very carefully, I want to raise some hypothesis that is worth at least keeping in mind. We were at such an event just before the previous elections - when those same people, MK Uri Maklev and MK Yaakov Asher of the Torah banner, also announced 3 months before that they would not rule out going with Gantz, to the point that Gantz put their picture on his billboards.".

""After the elections, there was a rumor that they did this whole move to actually prevent an incitement campaign against the Haredim, to leave the entire opposition with a vague hope that maybe there was a chance they would form a coalition with them and therefore not attack them. In this way, they prevented a very, very significant incitement campaign during the election campaign.

""We know that the issue of the Haredim and the conscription law was supposed to be the most central issue in the election campaign. It could be that someone here is doing the exercise again.".

Yaki Adamkar: "I want to point out that, unlike the election campaign that Momo describes here, this is a different event. Because every Haredi, almost every Haredi home, feels this event. Not only in their pocket but also in their children. Whether it's in the definition of a particular child as a 'deserter' or whether it's in the decrees that are supposed to go into effect in two weeks by the High Court of Justice.".

Filber: "It is true that every young Haredi leaves home today in fear that he may be arrested as a deserter, and this is not a simple event.""
