Amid the turbulent days of the war, Itay Birman wrote his first poem, “Take Care of the House,” a poem born from the heart, from the concern, prayer, and reality that we have all experienced since October 7th.
Now, Itay Birman and Ariel Zilber meet in a special and moving duet that was born out of pain but chooses to bring light and faith – "Bless you.".
The song, based on sacred words and ancient sources from the words of Rabbi Shalom Shabazi, touches on the deep longings of the Jewish people for the Land of Israel, the redemption, and the building of the Temple, and combines an ancient spirit with a contemporary and moving musical arrangement.
Behind the melody are Itay Birman and Avshalom Derricks, with Derricks also responsible for the musical arrangement and production, which give the song a powerful, nostalgic, and soulful atmosphere.
The lyrics of the hymn “Blessed be Israel” recur powerfully throughout the song, creating a sense of unity, faith, and hope, alongside a prayer for imminent redemption and the gathering of exiles. The combination of Ariel Zilber’s unique voice and Itay Birman’s emotional delivery creates an extraordinary musical connection between past and present and between different generations in Israeli music.
