The Grunis Committee, which approved by a majority vote the appointment of Roman Goffman as head of the Mossad, today (Thursday) submitted to the High Court its response to the petition against Goffman's appointment.

The committee determined that its decision to recommend the appointment was made after a comprehensive examination of all the allegations, and that there was no legal basis for interfering with its discretion.

The committee's response to the High Court of Justice states: "The committee's decision, that there was no reproach to Goffman's moral integrity, is well-founded on the material presented before it and in court.".

The committee also wrote that "according to the rules established in the case law of the Supreme Court in its capacity as a high court of justice, there is no room for the Court's honor to intervene in the committee's decision.".

""It would have been better for this petition not to have been submitted, but since it has been submitted, it must be rejected.".
