The arrest was made after the police received a report from the principal of the educational institution, after the student shared his feelings with her and revealed the existence of the weapon.
The student told the principal that he felt threatened due to a family dispute, and that he carried the gun with him to increase his sense of personal security.
Upon receiving the information, police forces arrived at the scene and inspected the suspect's equipment, accompanied by the school administration.
During the inspection, a gun was found in the student's backpack along with a cartridge and matching ammunition.
The weapon was seized by the police and transferred for further evidence extraction at the police laboratories.
The suspect, a 20-year-old resident of Ramla, was detained by the forces and transferred for further investigation to the Yavneh police station. The police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident and the source from which the weapon came into the young man's hands.
