According to a report by Guy Peleg on Channel 12, Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara made the decision, and the indictment is expected to be filed against him in court tomorrow.

The investigation against Yaakovi was opened by the IDF after a conversation he had with the commander of the IDF's Special Operations Command, Avishai Mualem. In the conversation, Yaakovi was allegedly heard telling Mualem that an investigation was underway against him - and that this was probably the reason he was not being promoted in rank.

Yacoubi denies the suspicions against him, and at the hearing he claimed through his lawyer that he was not even aware that a covert investigation was underway against Mualem.

However, the Attorney General decided to indict Yaakovi.

Peleg notes that due to Yacoubi's senior position, senior legal officials estimate that he will not be able to remain in his position.

About two months ago, the State Attorney's Office again informed the Commissioner of the Prison Service that the Legal Advisor to the Government and the State Attorney were considering bringing him to criminal trial, subject to a hearing, on suspicion of crimes related to morality.

The Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, responded: "As far as the information is correct, the criminal, ousted and anti-democratic advisor, who repeatedly acts against everything that is good for the State of Israel, chose to file an indictment against the IPS Commissioner - in an attempt to cover up his case. This is the best Commissioner in the history of the state.".

""This is a commissioner who led a real revolution in the Prison Service, implemented the policy in full, and returned deterrence to the departments, stopped the summer camps, brought in governance, and served as a father to the prison warriors - after decades of neglect in which terrorists actually ran the prisons.".

""Gali Baharav Meira sewed up a case for him only because of his loyalty to government policy. I fully support and support the Commissioner. I and the entire people of Israel stand behind him.

""I call on the IPS Commissioner, a hero of Israel, to remain in his position and continue his important work."
