At an extensive operational update conference held today (Monday) at the Ramat David Air Force Base, with the participation of the IDF's senior command staff from all commands, wings and branches - Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir spoke out against the "messiah patch" that fighters are sticking on their uniforms.
The conference focused on summarizing the achievements of the campaign in Iran as part of Operation Roar of the Lion and the continuation of the activity in southern Lebanon. During the day, the commanders held talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz.
Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir gave a speech in which he combined a strategic review with the establishment of strict command norms.
""The uniforms we wear are a symbol of where we serve and our values - we should not use them irresponsibly," said the Chief of Staff.
According to a Channel 7 report, Zamir continued his remarks by waving a "messiah patch" and scolding the commanders: "This is how you want our army? This is a moral rebellion in the IDF.".
We should note that less than a week after taking office, Zamir said that he "does not intend to rip a patch off any soldier" and that it is not his job.
In this, he was referring to an incident in which his predecessor, Herzli Halevi, ordered the removal of a "Messiah" patch from a reservist in Lebanon. Zamir then told those present at the General Command Staff conference: "I do not intend to remove a patch from any soldier, that is your job. I do not intend to deal with it and you do not want me to deal with it either, that is the job of the chain of command.".
Today, as mentioned, he was more resolute in imposing the progressive values that dominate the IDF.
