
Due to extreme conditions that increase the likelihood of fires developing, including the safety and security situation of the forests, Israel Fire and Rescue Commissioner, Chief of Staff Eyal Caspi, signed an order prohibiting the lighting of fires and bonfires throughout the country - starting next Sunday until midnight Tuesday.

Fire and Rescue say, "It is important to emphasize: The order allows the lighting of bonfires only in places that have been approved in advance by the local authority, the Nature and Parks Authority, or the Israel National Fund. Care must be taken to ensure that bonfires are small, safe, and supervised, in accordance with the guidelines and conditions set forth in the order.".
Also, lighting a fire in designated food preparation facilities - barbecues - is permitted only in approved locations.
Fire and Rescue will deploy hundreds of firefighters, fire prevention inspectors, and volunteers across the country, who will patrol the various hotspots for prevention, supervision, and rapid operational response.
