According to the government's decision, the ministries of tourism and transportation will promote the construction of a cable car that will depart from the Kfar Tavor complex and connect Nazareth, the Galilee, and Mount Tabor.

The cable car route includes an intermediate station in the village of Shibli, which will allow a direct connection between Nazareth, the Galilee, the village of Shibli and Mount Tabor.

The decision joins a previous investment by the Ministry of Tourism in planning the project, amounting to approximately one million shekels.

The Ministries of Tourism and Transportation will now invest approximately 4 million shekels to carry out planning and economic feasibility studies, which will be completed within approximately 12 months and will lay the infrastructure for the realization of the project. The project will be promoted by the ministries from an integrated approach of transportation development alongside maximizing the tourism potential of the area. The decision gives the green light to promote detailed planning and remove barriers.

Mount Tabor is considered one of the most important historical, religious, and tourist sites in Israel and the world.

The mountain is a pilgrimage site for hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, from Israel and abroad, in addition to being a unique natural and scenic site in the Lower Galilee. However, the limited accessibility and congestion on the narrow roads leading to the mountain's summit harm the visiting experience and the tourist potential inherent in the place.

The cable car will offer a unique tourist travel experience with aerial views, and will significantly improve accessibility and connectivity between Nazareth, the Galilee, and Kfar Tavor.

Minister of Tourism, Haim Katz: "The promotion of the cable car is significant news for strengthening tourism in the north, and in particular for pilgrim tourism, which will gain convenient access to the heritage sites along the "Way of the Gospel". We are transforming the area into a modern center of attraction, combining a unique tourist experience with an accessible transportation solution. This is a practical step that will connect the Galilee landscape to Mount Tabor, strengthen the heritage assets and provide an additional boost to tourism and economic activity in the area.".

Minister of Transportation Miri Regev: "Developing the northern periphery is a central goal for me. Mount Tabor is a historical and touristic asset of international importance, and we are committed to exploiting its tremendous potential. The cable car we are promoting will make reaching the site more convenient, accessible and safer, will increase the scope of tourism and contribute to the economic growth of the region. This is a true connection between heritage, nature and advanced transportation, as part of the vision of 'Connecting Israel'.".
