
Veteran media figure Shaul Yitzhak Schiff passed away on Saturday at the age of 84, after battling a serious illness in recent years.
The deceased, Z"L, was born in Israel in 1952 and grew up in Tel Aviv. He studied at the Talmud Torah 'Yesodi HaTorah', at the 'Nahalim' Yeshiva, at the 'Kerem Yavne' Yeshiva, and served in the IDF as a regular national recruitment officer at the recruitment office in Jaffa.
Studied Arabic and political science at Bar Ilan University.
He served as a reporter and editor for the student newspaper "Bat Kol." He edited and presented for about two years on "Moreshet" radio.
For about 40 years he worked at the Hatzofe newspaper, where he began as the director of the appointments department, continued as a reporter for party affairs, parliamentary affairs, and was a night editor as well as a reporter related to any public issue.
For years he wrote a newsletter called 'In the Secret of Discourse'.
Over the years, he became closer to Chabad Hasidism and became associated with the Lubavitcher Rebbe, zt"l.
His funeral will take place at 11:00 PM at the Kfar Nachman Cemetery in Ra'anana.
He is survived by his wife Shulamit, four sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is the uncle of MK Simcha Rothman.
