'The Israel Journalists' Organization petitioned the High Court of Justice, together with the "Success - for the Promotion of a Just Society" association and the Jerusalem Journalists' Association, against the special committee in the Knesset that discussed media reform.
The petition is scheduled for a hearing in the High Court in two months, and the petitioners requested that the High Court order a stay of the hearings until the High Court hearing.
However, Judge Alex Stein rejected the request: "I did not see fit to grant interim relief at this time.".
The judge ruled that to the extent that there were fundamental flaws in the legislative process, they would only be examined after the law was completed and passed. He emphasized that if it turns out that the legislative process was fundamentally flawed, this would be taken into account when the court examines the constitutionality of the law itself.
