The Ministry of Transportation and Road Safety is leading an innovative initiative that is the first of its kind in Israel: Formulating a comprehensive transportation master plan for Sheba Medical Center, similar to the plans used in cities and local authorities.

This is a precedent-setting and unique move for a single medical complex, based on a concept that sees Sheba as a large-scale hub of activity, serving hundreds of thousands of people a year and requiring a comprehensive and advanced transportation solution.

In accordance with the directive of the Minister of Transportation, a special professional committee was appointed to examine all transportation needs for the complex and plan a comprehensive accessibility system that will synchronize mass transit and public transportation systems.

The committee will work in collaboration with representatives of infrastructure and transportation companies, leading planning agencies, and representatives of the medical center.

The move reflects the unique status of Sheba Medical Center as a 'city of health' and is part of the realization of the vision of "Connecting Israel" - strengthening connectivity between employment centers, public services, and national activity centers.

The committee was authorized to examine and propose transportation solutions for the short, medium, and long term, while setting priorities for implementation, with the aim of significantly improving access to the complex and reducing traffic congestion in the area.

At the heart of the planning: optimal integration between the main transportation systems - the purple line of the light rail, the M3 metro line, and an advanced and accessible bus system - in a way that will create complete transportation continuity and an efficient connection from all over the metropolis.

In accordance with Minister Regev's policy, the committee will begin its work immediately and submit its recommendations within 120 days, with the aim of promoting rapid implementation of solutions on the ground.

Minister of Transportation Miri Regev: "Sheba Medical Center is a center of medical, research and public activity on a national and international scale, serving tens of thousands of patients, employees and visitors every day. Such a reality requires new, broad and systemic transportation thinking - no more point solutions, but comprehensive planning that connects light rail, metro and buses, and ensures high, efficient and high-quality accessibility from all over the country. This is another important step in the policy we are leading to strengthen public transportation and make central service centers accessible to the public.".
