The workers' committee of Zim Shipping Services announced a complete shutdown of the company's operations after contacts with the company's management and owners did not yield the desired results in light of the intention to sell the company to Kolengmart.
Oren Caspi, chairman of the committee, said: "900 workers are at risk of being laid off, and the entire maritime sovereignty of our country is in danger. We love our workplace, we believe in it, that's why we are striking to protect ZIM.".
