Investigation into the murder of the late Prikhodko couple near Mishmar Ayalon: Suspicion of criminal background grows

Following a joint situation assessment with the Shin Bet, conducted by the Central District Commander, Superintendent Amir Cohen, the suspicion is growing that the background to the murder of the late couple Olga and Ruslan Prikhodko is criminal.

The detention of four suspects, including the boy suspected of committing the murder, has been extended.

On May 22, 2026, the late Olga and Ruslan Prikhodko were found dead in their vehicle near the Ayalon checkpoint. Upon receiving the report, numerous police forces arrived at the scene and an investigation was opened, examining all avenues of investigation.

The Police Commissioner conducted a situation assessment at the scene of the incident together with the Central District Commander, at the conclusion of which the investigation was assigned to the Central District Central Unit (YAMR).

Since the opening of the investigation, Central Intelligence Agency investigators, in cooperation with the General Security Service, have been conducting an intensive and complex investigation, in which all possible directions of investigation were examined, including criminal and nationalist motives.

During the investigation, Border Police Special Operations Command fighters, under the direction of the Central Special Operations Command and the Shin Bet, arrested a number of suspects involved in the incident, including a teenager who is suspected of committing the murder.

The court today (Thursday) extended the detention of four suspects in accordance with the needs of the investigation, while four additional suspects were released under restrictive conditions.

As mentioned, following a situation assessment conducted this morning by the Central District Commander, with the participation of Shin Bet officials and investigative officials, and in accordance with recent developments and findings collected, the suspicion is growing that the background to the incident is criminal.

The investigation continues.

The publication ban order was reduced and remains in effect with respect to the identity of the minor suspect involved in the case, as well as any other details of the investigation that could lead to the disclosure of his identity.
