In the left bloc, battles continue: Opposition leader, MK Yair Lapid, claims today (Sunday) that one cannot trust former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, who he believes may join forces with the right to form a government, and not Gadi Eisenkot.
In a video message he posted, Lapid said: "To win, first of all you have to make sure that your vote does not go to the other camp in any way, right? That's a basic requirement. You have to make sure that you don't vote for a candidate or a party that has any chance of going with Netanyahu.".
On Naftali Bennett: "He's a friend of mine. The Brotherhood Alliance is a real thing, but you're not sure, I'm not sure, and he's not sure either that he won't take the mandates and form a government with Netanyahu. They'll call it a unity government, but it will be another Netanyahu government.".
About Gadi Eisenkot he said: "The same thing, with all the love, also about Eisenkot. He is a great man, he is a bereaved father, he is an Israeli patriot, but he saved Netanyahu. He entered the wrong government at the wrong time, and then also resigned from the Knesset at the wrong time. And like with Bennett - can I tell you what his list will look like?""
Lapid added: "If there's one thing we learned the hard way, it's this - don't buy cats in a sack. Don't buy parties you don't know, so that we don't wake up in the morning with another Silman and another Shekel. Don't vote for people you don't know what they'll do when the whole world puts pressure on them, because it could end very badly.".
He emphasized: "These people are our partners. I don't want to fight with them, I want to form a government with them. But to form a government you need a machine, you need iron discipline, you need people who know what they're doing. We're not gambling on these elections.".
Last night, Lapid said in a conversation with Yesh Atid activists: "I call on Bennett and Eisenkot, as those who have made the greatest unifications in the history of Israeli politics in recent years - all this talk on television about who will be number 1 and who will be number 2 is only doing damage.
""This is not how reunions are done. We will handle this quietly, at the right time and as far away as possible from the cameras and reporters.".
