After years of hard work: This morning (Wednesday), work began on the ground to double the Cross-Samaria Highway, in the section between Ariel Square and Tapuach Junction.
This is a strategic transportation project, which is being launched after a decade of concentrated effort led by the Samaria Regional Council.
About two months ago, the construction permit was signed by the Civil Administration Planning Bureau and the Israel Roads Company. Its cost is estimated at about 500 million NIS. The road is expected to bring about a fundamental change in the transportation system in the area.
The head of the Samaria Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, welcomed the event and said that it was a dramatic event for the development of the region: "The Trans-Samaria Highway is a major lifeline in Samaria. The bulldozers' arrival on the ground this morning is huge news on the road to a million in Samaria. We are realizing the vision of advanced, safe and accessible transportation that enables real growth for settlement.".
He added: "This is a holiday for Samaria and another strategic step on the way to our goal: one million residents in Samaria.".
