The security establishment has decided that starting tonight (Saturday night), Construction Minister Uri Ariel will be assigned 24-hour security, journalist Ofer Hadad reported on Channel 2.

The decision was made due to threats from terrorist organizations to harm the minister, following his activity in favor of Jews ascending to the Temple Mount and due to his support and activity in favor of Jewish settlement in East Jerusalem.

About two weeks ago, it was reported that Minister Ariel was considering moving to the City of David. The minister visited the area with his wife and looked at possible apartments, with the goal of renting a house and living there a few nights a week. The minister contacted the Shin Bet's Personal Security Unit and informed them of his intention, to allow the security apparatus to prepare for this transition.

Following the announcement that security had been assigned to the minister, his office confirmed the details: "This is probably the price in the Middle East for adhering to the principles of Zionism. The growing support for the settlement path and the settlers' party proves that the principles we insist on win in the test of results.".
