There will be no shortage: According to the Fish Farmers' Organization, approximately 1,500 tons of fresh pond fish will appear on holiday tables in Israel - including 550 tons of carp, 450 tons of tilapia, 180 tons of mullet, 100 tons of bass, 100 tons of barramundi, and approximately 120 tons of other fresh quality fish, including bream, sea bass, bream, trout, and more.
The fish in the ponds have already been converted to kosher food for Passover.
The Fish Farmers' Organization explains that in preparation for the holiday, the farmers change the fish's diet to kosher food for Passover to ensure that the fish that appear on the Seder table and throughout the holiday will meet the strictest kashrut requirements.
Chen Flor, CEO of the Fish Farmers' Organization in Israel: "Fish farmers in Israel continue to work constantly, even under constant rocket fire and with limited manpower, due to the recruitment of workers for the reserves.
""In recent weeks, we have been preparing to meet the full demand for fresh Israeli fish during the holiday, and therefore, no shortage of high-quality, fresh pond fish from local production is expected this coming Passover. We call on Israeli citizens to prefer Israeli agriculture.""
The Fish Farmers' Organization recommends purchasing fresh fish only in stores supervised by the local authority's veterinary department.
