Avraham Mordechai Rosenfeld, 60, a teacher at the Belza Talmud Torah in Tel Aviv, who is serving a long prison sentence for serially harming his students, recently filed a petition with the Central Lod District Court - in which he demands that the state allow him to take an extraordinary leave from prison to attend his daughter's wedding.

According to a report by Shimon Ifergan of the Mako bar, the wedding is scheduled to take place in the coming days at a wedding hall in Jerusalem.

The prisoner, who has been incarcerated since his arrest in the case in August 2016, is serving his sentence in Ma'ashiyahu Prison. In his petition, he claims that he contacted the Prison Service with an official request - but received no response.

Rosenfeld was sentenced to 14 years in prison after being convicted of committing serious offenses, abuse, and serious violence against 18 of his Talmud Torah students, ages 7-8.

During the trial, hard evidence was revealed about what was happening within the Talmud Torah, which the students called 'Bergen Belsen'.

According to the verdict, from 2003 to 2010, Rosenfeld, on numerous occasions and on a daily and systematic basis, used physical and mental violence that was characterized by cruelty, humiliation and terror, while exploiting the relationships of dependence and subordination between him and the students.

Along with the heavy prison sentence, it was determined that Rosenfeld must compensate his victims.

In his petition, Rosenfeld detailed his desire to participate in the family celebration and emphasized that there was someone who would monitor his steps outside of prison. "I ask to be allowed to take an extraordinary leave from prison to attend my daughter's wedding. I have people who would be willing to vouch for my return to prison," he noted.

According to the report in Mako, despite his request, the prison service does not intend to approve the wedding, given the seriousness of the offenses and the nature of the offense.

In the coming days, the court is expected to hear the petition and make a decision on whether to grant his request or leave him behind bars during the wedding, given the firm opposition of enforcement officials and the Israeli Prison Service to a prisoner with such a criminal record going on leave under these circumstances.
