Singer Mordechai Shapira has launched a new single "Until You Don't Know" - based on the well-known halachic law "A person is obligated to wash his hands in the presence of the Lord until he knows between the cursed Haman and the blessed Mordechai.""
Shapira wonders how one measures the result, to know whether the mitzvah is being fulfilled as written? How does one really feel whether or not one knows that Haman is cursed and Mordechai is blessed?
Well, it's much deeper than we're used to thinking.
""The song and the lyrics," explains Shapira, "are much more than a song for Purim. The message is to free the mind, to free the ego. As long as we need to 'know': to know what's happening, to know the story, to know all the details – we are still in our own world, in our daily lives. Purim is the time to move beyond that.""
Shapira speaks of a message of true self-abnegation: "It doesn't matter if you think you are wise, that you are righteous, that you are a leader – Purim reminds us that the path to serving Hashem passes through surrender, through abnegation. Not that I know, but to know and understand that Hashem knows.""
"The new "Ad Dela Yeda" combines a festive melody with a contemporary Purim vibe with rare spiritual depth, intended for anyone who seeks not only joy, but also meaning in the Purim celebrations.
Until he knew. Sometimes, not knowing is the greatest wisdom.
