Baruch Dayan, the true judge: The governor and benefactor Rabbi Shimon Shmelka Arblich, z"l of Tel Aviv-Antwerp, passed away today (Friday) at the age of 89 - one of the exemplary figures in the world of Haredi benevolence and action and the father of the benefactor Rabbi Yossi Arblich, chairman and founder of the organization 'For Your Sake'.
The late, late, was a well-known and beloved figure, who over decades combined extensive business entrepreneurship alongside devotion to the world of Torah and extraordinary acts of charity.
He was born on the 28th of Tevet 1937 to his father, Rabbi Moshe Yehuda Leib Arblich, zt"l, who was the second son of the Rebbe Rabbi Moshe Leib of Sasow, zt"l, and his mother, Mrs. Bracha, may God have mercy on him.
In his youth, he studied at the Ponevezh Yeshiva, where he learned his Torah from the yeshiva's leaders and rabbis.
When he reached his peak, he married his wife, Mrs. Hadassah, daughter of the late Rabbi Chaim Yisrael Haltovsky of Carlin. After the wedding, he settled in Antwerp and then immigrated to Tel Aviv, where he was one of the owners of the 'Artik' factory.
He was a successful businessman, in real estate and on the Antwerp stock exchange, and a banquet hall named after him, 'Olmi Arbelich', operated in Antwerp.
In Antwerp, he was a worshiper at the Peshwarsk Beit Midrash, where he was one of the most important worshipers of the Rebbe, Rabbi Itzkel of Peshwarsk.
Alongside his many occupations, he was careful to set times for Torah and was known as an open address for all who needed it. He devoted most of his energy to large-scale acts of charity and kindness, which were mostly done in secret and with complete modesty, out of a sense of mission for the common good and the individual.
His son, Rabbi Yossi Arblich, continues his father's legacy of great kindness by establishing and managing the "For You" organization - which has become a household name in the medical world, as it provides professional advice and guidance to hundreds of applicants from all walks of life every day, free of charge.
For his great work and the sanctification of God in the matter, the son earned great appreciation from the heads of the health system as well as from the State of Israel by carrying a torch and receiving the President's Medal.
Upon his passing, his family, many friends, and public figures mourned the loss of a man whose spirit and energy were dedicated to building the country and helping others, while remaining faithful to Torah and tradition.
He left behind a blessed generation of righteous people, 13 children - among his sons: Rabbi Yaakov Zvi Arblich, head of the Chernobyl Yeshiva in Elad, businessman and benefactor Rabbi Baruch Arblich, and medical consultant Rabbi Yosef Yitzhak Arblich, chairman of 'Lemanekhem'.
The funeral procession left today at 1:00 PM from the Shamgar Funeral Home in Jerusalem for Mount Hamunehot, where he will be buried.
