Quality of life rankings in 18 major cities: Kfar Saba at the top, Jerusalem at the bottom. And Bnei Brak?

The Central Bureau of Statistics published today (Monday) the quality of life ranking for 2024 for the 18 largest cities in Israel: Ashdod, Ashkelon, Beer Sheva, Beit Shemesh, Bnei Brak, Bat Yam, Herzliya, Hadera, Holon, Haifa, Jerusalem, Kfar Saba, Netanya, Petah Tikva, Rishon LeZion, Rehovot, Ramat Gan and Tel Aviv-Yafo.

The ranking is based on 56 different indicators in areas such as health, employment, education, environment, personal well-being, and more.

Kfar Saba tops the list, with a clear advantage in 39 indicators where it is better than the national average, including job satisfaction, life expectancy, the absence of fatalities in traffic accidents, and trust in others. On the other hand, it ranks low in satisfaction with public transportation and feelings of loneliness.

Ramat Gan and Herzliya are also at the top, thanks to high employment, use of online government services, education, as well as high median income and trust in the health and legal systems.

Here is some of the ranking data:

  • Kfar Saba leads in most quality of life indicators. Compared to the other 18 major cities, Kfar Saba leads
    In job satisfaction, in life expectancy, in satisfaction with parks and green spaces in the residential area, in percentage
    The lowest number of people reporting external noise that disturbs the apartment and general trust in others. There were no fatalities in accidents.

  • Ramat Gan leads in employment rates, in the percentage of eligibility for matriculation, in learning rates for those aged 15-17, in the lowest percentage
    with the highest levels of loneliness, the lowest infant mortality rate, and the use of online government services.
    It ranks second in satisfaction with the cleanliness of the living area.
  • Herzliya leads in median household income from work, in the percentage of employed people whose job matches the field
    Their studies, trust in the healthcare system, the lowest housing density, and trust in the legal system.
  • Rehovot leads in satisfaction with the residential area, in post-secondary and higher education, and in the sense of ability
    influence government policy.
  • Petah Tikva rose in 2024 to the group of cities with a high overall score in quality of life indicators. It leads in percentage
    Lowest number of involuntary part-time employees satisfied with cleanliness in their residential area, in percentage
    The lowest of households paying for housing 30% or more of their net monetary income and in satisfaction

  • In 2024, Netanya rose to the group of cities with a high overall score in quality of life indicators. It leads in the low percentage
    In terms of the cost of housing services per month and in the percentage of employed people who are satisfied with their income.
  • Tel Aviv-Yafo rose in 2024 to the group of cities with a high overall score in quality of life indicators. It leads in percentage
    Those employed whose role allows for advancement, with the lowest rate of long-term unemployment, in civic engagement,
    In financial and economic income and in the percentage of those involved in voluntary activities.
  • Beit Shemesh dropped in 2024 to the group of cities with an average overall score in quality of life indicators. It leads in trust

  • Rishon LeZion fell into the group of cities with an average overall score in quality of life indicators in 2024. It leads in percentage
    The lowest level of feeling discriminated against, and it is one of the leading cities in satisfaction with parks and green spaces in the region

  • Haifa dropped in 2024 to the group of cities with an average overall score in quality of life indicators. It ranks second

  • Holon dropped in 2024 to the group of cities with a low overall score in quality of life indicators. Ranked second in percentage

  • Bat Yam leads in the lowest percentages of feelings of depression, in the percentage of waste recycled, in satisfaction
    Satisfaction with public transportation and the lowest percentage of dissatisfaction with the time it takes to get to work.
  • Jerusalem leads in the lowest number of new cases of malignant tumors (cancer) among men and women
    And the quality of drinking water.
